Learn to Draw Plume

Plume is a bird who loves art. You can draw her too. All you need is paper, a pencil, and some colored pencils. Let's go step by step.

Step 1: blank paper
1

Start with a blank page

Get a clean sheet of white paper and a pencil. That's all you need to begin. Every drawing starts with nothing.

Tip: Use a pencil first, not a pen. Pencils let you fix mistakes.
Step 2: sketch in black and white

Sketch Plume in black and white

Draw Plume's round body first, just a big circle. Then add her wing as a curved shape on the side, her tail feathers at the back, and her beak as a little triangle. Keep your lines light and loose. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Tip: Draw lightly. Press soft so your lines are easy to erase.
Step 3: erase mistakes

Fix your mistakes

Did a line go wrong? That's totally fine. Grab your eraser and rub it out, then try again. Every artist erases. Mistakes are how drawings get better.

Tip: Brush the eraser shavings off gently so you don't smudge your drawing.
Step 4: add color

Add color

Now grab your colored pencils. Color in Plume's body, her wing, her tail. You can use the same colors as our drawing, or make up your own. Maybe your Plume is purple. That's great.

Tip: Color in one direction and press evenly so it looks smooth.
